We’re pleased to share another successful residential planning outcome at Clarence Road, Wantirna.
We managed the planning process for a substantial new double-storey dwelling to the rear of the existing home, delivering two dwellings on the lot without subdivision.
This project presented an opportunity to increase housing supply while responding to the established neighbourhood character and large neighbouring trees. Through thoughtful site planning and close consultant coordination, the proposal achieves a contemporary residential outcome that respects its surroundings.
🏡 Project Highlights
• New double-storey dwelling to the rear of the existing home.
• Two dwellings on an approximately 915.48 sqm allotment, with the existing front dwelling retained.
• Contemporary family-sized dwelling with generous living areas and private open space.
• Thoughtful design response to large neighbouring trees.
• Built form that integrates with the leafy suburban character of Wantirna.
📐 Our Contribution
Canter Town Planning prepared the Town Planning Assessment Report and coordinated the planning, design, arboricultural and stormwater inputs supporting the application.
A key focus was ensuring the proposed dwelling responded appropriately to the existing home, neighbouring vegetation, access arrangements and relevant planning requirements. Working closely with the consultant team, we helped deliver a coordinated proposal tailored to the site’s opportunities and constraints.
🤝 Project Team
A big thank you to the team involved:

✨ Why Thoughtful Site Planning Matters
Successful infill development requires careful consideration of the existing home, neighbouring properties, vegetation, private open space and neighbourhood character.
At Clarence Road, responding to large neighbouring trees was an important part of the project. This highlights the value of bringing planning and specialist consultants together early to develop a proposal that responds to site conditions while supporting quality housing outcomes.
At Canter Town Planning, we take a practical, hands-on approach to every project. From planning strategy and report preparation through to consultant coordination and Council engagement, our town planner in Knox helps keep projects clear, coordinated and moving forward.
Another great result for our client and project team! 👏
